Jonathan Pinshaw
Chairman of the Board
Jonathan Pinshaw is an Australian resident and has served as a Director of the Company since 7 March 2012. Mr Pinshaw has over 25 years experience in the Australian retail industry and is currently a Board adviser to Bras N Things and two family offices.
Mr Pinshaw was formerly a non-executive Director of Burger King New Zealand, and formerly Chairman of Barbeques Galore Pty Limited, Super A-Mart Pty Limited, Just Group Limited and Australian Discount Retail Pty Limited. Mr Pinshaw was also formerly the Managing Director of OPSM Group Limited until it was acquired by Luxottica Group S.p.A; Deputy Chairman of John Fairfax Holdings Limited; Non-Executive Director of James Hardie Industries Limited; Chairman of Austotel Pty Limited, Vox Retail Group Pty Limited and Australian Consolidated Investments Limited; Chief Executive of Brierley Investments Limited Australia; and Managing Director of Freedom Furniture Limited during the period in which it undertook its initial public offering and listing on the ASX.
Mr Pinshaw holds a Bachelor of Business Science (Hons) from the University of Cape Town and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of South Africa.
Peter Wyles
President & Chief Executive Officer
Peter Wyles has served as the Company’s President and CEO since joining the Company in June 2010. Mr Wyles is responsible for managing all day-to-day operations of the Company, and developing and implementing strategies approved by the Board.
Mr Wyles brings to the Company broad general management experience in the pharmaceuticals, medical devices and consumer health industries. Prior to joining the Company, Mr Wyles spent 15 years with Bayer Healthcare where he started his career in Germany, and then went on to lead consumer, pharmaceutical and medical device businesses in Japan, Canada and the US. More recently, Mr Wyles led the global expansion and integration of Metrika, Inc., a former start-up in the diabetes space that was acquired by Bayer HealthCare in 2006. Prior to Bayer Healthcare, Mr Wyles worked with Asahi Chemical in Tokyo, Japan as part of their clinical development and new business development teams.
Mr Wyles is a graduate of Thunderbird School of Global Management, where he earned his Masters of Business Administration and Pennsylvania State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts. Mr Wyles served in the United States Marine Corps where he had assignments in Russia, South Africa and Honduras.
Kevin Appelbaum
Director
Kevin Appelbaum has served as a Director of the Company since January 2010. Mr Appelbaum has spent more than 22 years working with and leading companies in every stage of development as both an operating executive and strategic advisor. Since 2001, Mr Appelbaum has focused his professional efforts at the intersection of traditional healthcare and consumer industries. Mr Appelbaum has a blend of traditional healthcare experience and commercial know-how, selling directly to consumers and building global brands.
Mr Appelbaum is President and Chief Executive Officer of TRIA Beauty Inc., (TRIA), an aesthetic medical device company, and serves as board chairman to Medley Health Inc., a privately held technology enabled health services company Inc. Prior to joining TRIA, Mr Appelbaum was an executive with Sephora USA, Inc., and gained operating and business leadership experience with Procter & Gamble and PepsiCo and as Chief Executive Officer of the venture capital backed e-retailer Tavolo, Inc.
Mr Appelbaum holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and began his career as an Army infantry officer, commanding several Ranger platoons and serving in the US and abroad. Mr Appelbaum is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization.
Christine Bennett, MBBS
Director
Christine Bennett is an Australian resident and has served as a Director of the Company since 29 February 2012. Dr Bennett is a specialist medical practitioner who has worked in the healthcare industry for over 25 years. She has held senior executive roles in healthcare management, policy, advisory, business development and research in both the private and public sectors.
Dr Bennett’s current roles include, Dean of the School of Medicine, Sydney at the University of Notre Dame Australia; Chairman of Research Australia; Chair of the Australian National Preventive Health Agency Advisory Council; and she holds non-executive roles for Bupa Australia. Dr Bennett is also a strategic adviser to PricewaterhouseCoopers.
During her career, Dr Bennett has been the Chief Executive Officer of Research Australia; Chief Executive of Westmead Hospital and Community Health Services and Partner for Health and Life Science of KPMG Australia; Group Executive, Health and Financial Solutions, and Chief Medical Officer of MBF Ltd; Head of Health Services Planning, NSW Health; General Manager of the Royal Hospital for Women; Director of Clinical Services and Population Health in South Eastern Sydney Area Health Service. Dr Bennett is a trained pediatrician and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians where she served on the Council for six years.
Dr Bennett has served as a non-executive director for a number of publicly listed, private and charitable enterprises including HeartWare Ltd, Symbion Healthcare Ltd, Pacific Nursing Solutions Pty Ltd, and the Schizophrenia Research Institute.
Dr Bennett holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney; and a Masters of Pediatrics from the University of New South Wales. Dr Bennett is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
Josh Green
Director
Josh Green has served as a Director of the Company since May 2010. Mr Green has more than 25 years of experience working with companies from start-up phase to large public companies, and has helped many management teams focus their energy on building value for the enterprise and its stakeholders. Mr Green is a General Partner of Mohr Davidow Ventures, which is a substantial shareholder of Ventus. Mr Green has experience in a broad range of industries including clean-tech and medical devices and has assisted various entrepreneurs to define their markets and products.
Throughout his career Mr Green has guided entrepreneurs and helped to build some of the most successful emerging growth companies in Silicon Valley including the Internet search engine Yahoo!, the biotechnology company Geron Corporation, the medical device company Target Therapeutics Inc., the telecommunication/networking company Cerent Corporation and semiconductors company Xilinx, Inc.
Mr Green graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles, and the UCLA School of Law where he was on the Law Review.
Holger Liepmann
Director
Holger Liepmann has served as a Director of the Company since 27 February 2012.
Mr Liepmann served as executive vice president of Abbott Laboratories’ second largest business, Nutrition, from 2006 – 2011. In this role Mr Liepmann was responsible for all business functions related to prescription and consumer nutrition, including commercial, operations and R&D. From 1986 – 2006, Mr Liepmann assumed roles of increasing responsibility in Abbott’s International division, which managed Abbott’s pharmaceutical, hospital and nutritional products outside of the US. After international postings in Germany, Puerto Rico, Spain and Japan, and managing countries and regional businesses, Mr Liepmann ultimately headed the International division as senior vice president from 2004 – 2006. Prior to joining Abbott, Mr Liepmann worked for Bayer AG and its affiliates Cutter Laboratories/Miles Laboratories in various marketing and finance management roles. Mr Liepmann brings extensive global and functional health care products experience to the Company.
Mr Liepmann graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College and holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Stanford University.
