Peter Wyles

President & Chief Executive Officer

Peter Wyles has served as the Company’s President and CEO since joining the Company in June 2010. Mr Wyles is responsible for managing all day-to-day operations of the Company, and developing and implementing strategies approved by the Board.

Mr Wyles brings to the Company broad general management experience in the pharmaceuticals, medical devices and consumer health industries. Prior to joining the Company, Mr Wyles spent 15 years with Bayer Healthcare where he started his career in Germany, and then went on to lead consumer, pharmaceutical and medical device businesses in Japan, Canada and the US. More recently, Mr Wyles led the global expansion and integration of Metrika, Inc., a former start-up in the diabetes space that was acquired by Bayer HealthCare in 2006. Prior to Bayer Healthcare, Mr Wyles worked with Asahi Chemical in Tokyo, Japan as part of their clinical development and new business development teams.

Mr Wyles is a graduate of Thunderbird School of Global Management, where he earned his Masters of Business Administration and Pennsylvania State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts. Mr Wyles served in the United States Marine Corps where he had assignments in Russia, South Africa and Honduras.

Sandra A. Gardiner

Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary

Sandra Gardiner has served as the Company’s Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer since October 2011 and as Company Secretary since December 2011. Ms Gardiner has over 25 years of financial and general management experience in the medical device, biotechnology and diagnostics industries. Ms Gardiner has served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of both private and publicly traded companies: Vermillion, Inc., Lipid Sciences, Inc., and Bend Research, Inc. At Bend Research, Inc., Ms Gardiner was also a member of the board of directors.

Bringing a broad background in financial and strategy management, Ms Gardiner has been involved in raising over US$200 million in funding for a variety of companies through various mechanisms including an initial public offering, secondary offerings, a reverse merger, and multiple private placements. Most recently Ms Gardiner served as Chief Financial Officer of Vermillion, Inc. leading the SEC compliance efforts, relisting of the company’s common stock on NASDAQ, and completing an underwritten public offering. Ms Gardiner has also held various senior management and executive positions at Cardima, Inc. and Comac, Inc. and began her medical industry career in 1988 with Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. (formerly a division of Guidant Corporation).

Ms Gardiner holds a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from the University of California.

Rajiv Doshi, MD

Chief Scientific Officer

Rajiv Doshi has served as the Company’s Chief Scientific Officer since January 2010. Previously, he was involved in founding the Company in 2005 and served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company from October 2005 through to May 2007. Dr Doshi initially conceived and led the development of Ventus’ core technology working with design consultants and employees of the Company and is a co-inventor on over 50 pending and issued patents of the Company.

Dr Doshi is a Consulting Assistant Professor of Medicine and formerly served as a Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University. Dr Doshi also serves as the US executive director of Stanford-India Biodesign, a Government of India supported program to promote medical technology industry growth in India. Previously, Dr Doshi was a principal at De Novo Ventures II, L.P., which is a substantial shareholder in the Company.

Dr Doshi also serves on the Medical Advisory Board of Lunar Design, Inc. and serves as an advisor to multiple early-stage medical technology companies in the US and India.

Dr Doshi holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, a Masters of Science in Biomechanical Engineering and a Doctorate of Medicine from Stanford University where he was a Soros Fellow.

Philip Westbrook, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Philip Westbrook has served as the Company’s Chief Medical Officer since July 2009. Dr Westbrook is also a scientific adviser to the Company. Dr Westbrook is regarded as one of the pioneers in the field of sleep medicine and is the recipient of the 2009 National Sleep Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr Westbrook served as President of the American Sleep Disorders Association (ASDA) and as a member of the Board of Directors and Standards of Practice Committee and was acknowledged by the ASDA with a Distinguished Service Award. Dr Westbrook has presented over 100 guest lectures to professional organizations, was editor-in-chief of the Sleep Medicine Review, and an editor for the scientific journal SLEEP. Dr Westbrook is an emeritus faculty member of the Mayo Medical School (associate professor) and the UCLA School of Medicine (professor) and was the founding director of the Sleep Disorder Center at the Mayo Clinic and at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Dr Westbrook holds a Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate of Medicine degree from Stanford University.

Michael R. Lopez, DM

Vice President of Operations

Michael Lopez has served as the Company’s Vice President of Operations since July 2011. Dr Lopez brings more than 25 years experience in multiple production environments managing key facilities of both global and start-up organizations. Prior to joining the Company, Dr Lopez was Vice President of Operations and Manufacturing at InSound Medical, Inc. (InSound) leading the launch and scale up of a highly disruptive hearing aid solution until its acquisition by the world’s largest provider of hearing healthcare. Before InSound, Dr Lopez held various leadership positions of increasing responsibility within Albany International Corp, Polaroid Corporation, and the US Navy’s fast attack submarine community.

Dr Lopez holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the US Naval Academy, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island and a Doctorate of Management from Case Western Reserve University.
